How to reach us
From Kolkata (the capital city and a major hub):
By Train:
- This is generally the most convenient and popular option.
- Take a local train from Sealdah (SDAH) or Howrah (HWH) railway stations towards Kalyani or Kalyani Simanta.
- Many trains run frequently on the Sealdah Main line or Bandel line that connect to Kalyani.
- The journey typically takes around 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the train and starting station.
- Once you reach Kalyani railway station, Ramakrishna Mission Kalyani is relatively close, and you can take an auto-rickshaw or cycle rickshaw to reach the mission.
By Road (Car/Taxi):
- The distance is approximately 50-60 km.
- You can take the Kalyani Expressway (also known as Barrackpore-Kalyani Expressway) which is a direct route.
- The journey usually takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic conditions.
- Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available in Kolkata.
By Bus:
- Buses ply regularly from various points in Kolkata to Kalyani. However, train travel is generally faster and more comfortable.
From Howrah (another major railway junction):
By Train:
- Similar to Kolkata, you can take a local train from Howrah towards Kalyani. You might need to change at Bandel Junction to a train going towards Kalyani Simanta. The journey will be around 1.5 hours.
By Road (Car/Taxi):
- Driving from Howrah to Kalyani is also feasible, taking a similar duration as from Kolkata, depending on the specific route taken and traffic.
From Bardhaman (a significant district town):
By Train:
- You can take a train from Barddhaman Junction (BWN) towards Bandel Junction (BDC) and then change for a local train to Kalyani or Kalyani Simanta.
- The total train journey will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
By Road (Car/Taxi):
- Driving from Bardhaman to Kalyani would take around 1.5 to 2 hours, covering a distance of approximately 75-80 km, often via NH 19 and then connecting to the Kalyani Expressway or other local roads.
